let me start by saying that I was hooked at first sight. Unlimited storage for all my pictures up to 16MP of resolution and 1080p resolution for my videos is just a perfect solution for my needs. I would be able to stop paying $99 per year for Dropbox and finally consolidate all my images. What else would I need!?
I downloaded the desktop sync app and pointed to my Dropbox folder to let the app do its jobs. I also installed the Google Photos app for my Samsung S6 phone and pointed to all folders I wanted uploaded, a few hours later I was in for a really nice surprise.
I saw that some images were duplicated since I had these images in multiple folder in my computer. Google Photos sorted this picture by image so dupes were sitting right next to each other and it was a piece of cake to delete, lengthy process, but easy. Hold the first image for about 1 sec, and go into selection mode, selecting away all images. Once done selecting I clicked on the delete button and all images were moved to the recycle bin, super easy.
Now when I used the search feature I was blown away! I never had to tag my images but I could search for things like sunset, birds, dog, blue, road, food, party and voala there pops the results. I don’t have specifics but let me assure you the search is highly accurate and fun. I found videos and images I had not seen in 5 years.
Its fast, it’s easy, centralized, and unlimited! If you haven’t tried yet you are missing out. Check it out now! https://photos.google.com
